Nintendo Switch and Xbox owners are going to have to wait a while longer to play Fall Guys. On the official Fall Guys website, Mediatonic said, “With so many new opportunities now in our hands, we’ve realized that our previously announced Summer 2021 Switch and Xbox release schedule is unfortunately just too soon for us to include all of the tasty new features we’re working on.” That’s unfortunate, given I’d love to experience the Battle Royale/Platformer on the Series X. I’m still not quite full PC yet.
The delay of Fall Guys is not all bad news
Players hoping to receive a tentative date will be disappointed. All the team says is that they believe the Switch and Xbox releases “are really going to be worth waiting for and we’re super grateful for your patience.” This isn’t the first video game to recently get delayed, and it certainly won’t be the last. At the very least, this gives the team more time to polish and add some new features.
Mediatonic is taking the delay as an opportunity to implement cross-play. Once the game comes to the Xbox and Switch ecosystems, every player will play with one another. The game is already in Season 4, and Steam player numbers peaked at 21,745, according to gamerevolution. Though some think the game is dying, there’s no doubt that the Xbox and Switch release will revitalize Fall Guys.

The gameplay remains the same, but we get more
On March 2nd, Epic Games announced that they bought Mediatonic (Tonic Games Group). They reassured fans that they would not change the gameplay. Instead, Epic is investing in the game’s future. With Epic’s resources, Mediatonic will expand the game with new features, costumes, rounds, and other content.
The team further states that “Fortnite and Rocket League already have tons of features we’d love to bring to Fall Guys—account systems, cross-play, squad vs squad modes, etc… We’re going to work hard on bringing more of these features to Fall Guys too!” So, newcomers like me will come into a game with loads of fresh content. However, current players will see new content and a more extensive player base.
