The Detroit Tigers have their players selected for the Arizona Fall League according to a report from Lynn Henning of the Detroit News.($) The team has not done an official announcement.

For several prospects in the Detroit Tigers system, the Arizona Fall League is the yearly opportunity to showcase their skill set. Last season, right-hander Wilmer Flores was selected in his first year of professional baseball. Flores has quickly risen through the minor league system this season and is currently the 93rd ranked prospect in Baseball America’s Top 100 prospects.

This year, the Tigers are sending several hitters who have made an impact across the system. We will start with one of two players from the 2020 draft class.

INF Colt Keith

Keith, who just turned 21 back in August, was having an outstanding season at West Michigan before a shoulder injury ended his season. He was putting up a slash line of  .301/.370/.544 in 216 plate appearances. Colt showed good discipline at the plate, having 10.2% walk rate and a knack to get on base. He posted a wRC+ of 150, one of the highest in the organization.

INF Gage Workman

Workman since the end of August has been cutting back his near 40% strikeout rate to around 32%. Whether it is a sign of things he has figured it out at the plate, Workman continues to improve. He recently had a 12-game hitting streak to start the month.

OF Parker Meadows

Meadows since the start of the season has been one of the brightest spots in the system. He moved up from West Michigan in late April and has not looked back since. His numbers since June 1st are impressive: .301/ .376/.526 with a healthy walk rate of 10.9% and strikeout rate of 15.7%. 14 of his 20 home runs this season have come during this time period.  Changes at the plate when he loads to swing have helped him at the plate.

Other Detroit Tigers pitchers set to join:

  • RHP Jack Anderson (2021 16th round draft pick Florida State University) 59IP, 72K, 6 SV, 3.47 ERA (WM & LAK all in relief)
  • RHP Tyler Mattison (2021 4th round draft pick, Bryant University) 39.2IP, 54K, 4.54 ERA, 27 G

As Henning reported, left-hander Joey Wentz and catcher Josh Crouch may also join the others.

Update 9-16-2022: Here is the official list from the Detroit Tigers: Dillon Dingler, Andrew Mango and Joey Wentz are heading out to Salt River.
