Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals and PlayVS Strike Deal

Detroit native Delane Parnell and the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals have created the first ever varsity level Esports league in the state. The Michigan High School Esports League: Champions Series season will kick off October 19th. Parnell and the state of Michigan have plans to have a championship start in Spring 2021. Parnell is the CEO of PlayVS, an organization that focuses on building high school and college Esports teams.

New Deal = More Esports Competitions In MI Schools

With the signing of the new deal, MASSP and PlayVS will work together to create more Esports leagues in high schools across the state. MASSP currently has a member network of 1,800 high school and middle school principals in Michigan. The partnership will increase the amount of Michigan schools that will participate in leagues. There are already 40+ Michigan schools that are expected to participate in the championship series. Students can enroll now through October 16th, but spots are filling up fast.

Esports Is More Than Just Teens Playing Video Games

From Twitch, to Youtube, to Facebook Gaming, Esports has taken over major streaming platforms. Esports is more than just kids grabbing a controller and playing video games together. Its about team work, dedication, communication, and talent. Similar to your typical high school sport, Esports is about working together as a team and utilizing your best skills to achieve success. The days of competitive gaming being just another nerdy venture for kids is over. The industry itself is valued at $160 billion, and now more than ever teens can participate even with current COVID restrictions. This is a great way for kids to still compete and interact during these tough times.
