The Detroit Red Wings lost a battle against Original Six rival the Toronto Maple Leafs. After outshooting Toronto 43 – 25, Detroit lost 4-2 in regulation.  The Maple Leafs were held without a shot for most of the first period before Auston Matthews got Toronto’s offense rolling with a snipe from the slot passed Ville Husso.

Husso struggled, letting in four goals on 13 shots before being pulled for Alex Nedeljkovic. Ned, who hasn’t played in more than two weeks, didn’t allow a goal in just under a period and a half. Coach Derek Lalonde spoke post game saying Nedeljkovic will get one of the next two starts and “It was good for him to get a little rhythm”.

In a game where the offense seemed to click, seeing multiple chances in the offensive zone, the Red Wings couldn’t get a bounce. After the game Captain Dylan Larkin said “We gotta lot of looks, second looks. It just wasn’t going in”, “We fight, we play the right way to try and get a result, it just didn’t happen tonight”.

Toronto snapped the Red Wings three game winning streak, Detroit faces the Buffalo Sabres Wednesday night at home.

Red Wings Mo’ Seider Continues to play with Confidence

While Detroit had a tough loss, there is still good to take away from it. Mo’ Seider had another great game, tallying two points (1G,1A). Seider who got off to a slow start, has six points in the last five games. When asked of Mo’s confidence level, Dylan Larkin said. “He’s always had confidence. He’s making simple plays, getting pucks through” “Him and Ben are figuring each other out”.
