Your Week 5 CFB Betting Slip
We’re four weeks into the college football season, and that means conference play is nearly in full swing. There are five top-25 games this week, including one that involves two top-10 teams. This should be a great weekend to have a short honey-do list.
Let’s take a look at what your betting slip should look like heading into the weekend.
Minnesota (-12.5) vs Purdue
Utah (-10.5) vs Oregon St
Washington St (-4.5) vs California
Minnesota, led by 9th year senior Tanner Morgan, looks like the early favorite to lose to Ohio State in Indianapolis later this year. They are 4-0 against the spread this year and giving up 6 points per game. When is the last time Oregon St was good? Don’t even look it up. It’s been a while. They lost to USC last week and I think this is the week when the dam really starts to break. Washington St has been sneaky good so far this season. They beat Wisconsin in Madison and lost to Oregon by three. Fun fact: These two teams have the same points per game and points against per game.
Friday After Dark
You’ve clocked out for the week, a few seltzers deep, and feeling confident. Here is a Friday night bet I recommend.
Washington at UCLA – Over 66
Both teams are 4-0 and are averaging over 40 points per game. Washington either has Michael Penix Jr. or Kordell Stewart under center, I can’t tell anymore. Maybe this is the year for Chip Kelly and DTR? I’m kidding, of course.
Michigan at Iowa – Under 42
Anytime you see Iowa, your thumb should automatically click the under button. This one is no different. The Hawkeyes are giving up 5.8 points per game. And their go-to play on offense? Punt. I’m not saying this is a trap game for Michigan. But Kinnick has been a dangerous place to visit for top-10 teams.
Michigan St at Maryland (-7.5)
I wouldn’t touch this game, but for the sake of this article I’ll take Maryland. If you really have your heart set on betting this one, I would do the alternate spread around Maryland -3.5. I don’t know what to make of either team. Is Sparty as bad as they looked last week? I don’t think so. Maryland isn’t terrible, though.
Eastern Michigan (-20) vs UMASS
Eastern burned me last week, losing to Buffalo. But my lord is UMASS horrible. Let’s not get cute with this. Give me Eastern.
Central Michigan (+7) at Toledo
Neither team has beaten anyone with a pulse, but Central has kept it closer against the better teams
they’ve played compared to Toledo.
Western Michigan vs New Hampshire
I couldn’t find a spread for this game. Hopefully, both teams just have fun!
