Alistair Overeem’s performance at UFC Vegas 9 proves age is just a number. The 41 year old fight veteran struggled early in the fight, but in rounds 4 and 5 relied on his vicious ground and pound to earn the victory. Augusto Sakai used his pressure early in the fight to dominate the former Strikeforce champ, but struggled to keep up after being taken down in the later rounds of the fight.

During the UFC Post Fight Press Conference, Overeem says he’s ready to take a short break. Alistair plans to fight again either in late 2020 or early 2021. The Dutch MMA fighter stated in previous interviews that he would love to welcome Jon Jones to the Heavyweight division.
