Per the story in TMZ Sports, the dentures were once in the possession of Cobb biographer Al Stump. If you recall, Stump’s book about the Georgia Peach was made into a movie called “Cobb”.
The movie featured Tommy Lee Jones as Cobb and Robert Wuhl as Stump. It portrayed Cobb in a much darker light. In the book, Stump wrote Cobb confessed to a murder in 1912. However, according to research by Doug Roberts, a lawyer and former prosecutor, showed no such event took place. In fact, it was found that several events in his diary were forged.
While we never will know the true story of Ty Cobb, you can bid for a literal piece of the man, which is currently going for $14,272.
