Tony Ferguson

During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Tony Ferguson held nothing back with his thoughts on UFC President Dana White.

It’s no secret that Tony Ferguson wants another shot at the Lightweight belt. After losing to Justin Gaethje in May, Ferguson has demanded the UFC give him another fight. The only problem is that the UFC Lightweight division is so stacked that El Cucuy most likely will have to wait for his shot at the 155 belt. During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Ferguson seemed frustrated and as always blunt when it comes to his thoughts on the UFC and Dana White…

“Dana keeps shuffling me down the list. What? Because I’m fucking Mexican? What’s up Dana, you don’t like Mexicans? You don’t like brown people? I’m not going to call you a racist, but what the fuck, man? What’d I do to you? Why do you treat me like shit? My last name is Ferguson. I don’t want to get mad anymore. I don’t. I’m not going to. But that being said, I said my piece. I’m too busy working.

Ferguson Needs A Stand Out Performance Before Getting A Shot At The Belt

After snapping his 12-fight win streak with a loss to Justin Gaethje, El Cucuy needs to get a dominating win in order to get another shot at the Lightweight belt. Losing in such devastating fashion to Gaethje set Ferguson back, but I think he’ll bounce back into the title shot picture with just one win. Ferguson held one of the longest win streaks in UFC history, and just because he lost to Gaethje doesn’t mean he should be shelved while the division moves on.

El Cucuy vs Chandler would be just the match up Tony needs to prove he still has what it takes to compete at the highest levels. At this point with Khabib’s retiring a match up between Ferguson vs Nurmagomedov isn’t going to happen so Ferguson needs to just move on. If Ferguson were to beat UFC newcomer Michael Chandler easily it would show Dana that Ferguson is ready for a bigger challenge. Chandler suggested in a recent interview to set up a 4-man UFC Lightweight Tournament to find out who is the best at 155. Although I think that’s a fantastic idea, I don’t see it happening anytime soon. More on that on Friday’s episode of The Art Of Combat Podcast.
