Overeem Chasing One More Shot At UFC Gold

MMA veteran Alistair Overeem is making one last run at the UFC Heavyweight belt, but in order to get a shot at the champ he’ll have to defeat Alexander Volkov on Feburary 6th. Alistair is currently on a two fight win streak with knockout victories over Walt Harris and Augusto Sakai.

Alexander Volkov Will Be No Easy Task For Overeem

Also coming off a KO victory over Walt Harris, Volkov is 32-8 with 21 of those victories coming by way of knockout. Both fighters have tons of experience and between the two Heavyweights they have a combined 46 knockouts. The chances of this fight going the distance is slim to none.

Should Overeem Get A Shot At The Belt With A Victory Over Volkov?

Alistair is nearing the end of his MMA career and has made it clear this is his last shot at the Heavyweight belt. The Demolition Man had a shot at UFC gold in 2016, but was knocked out by current Heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic in the 1st round. Lets be real, a win over Volkov would not guarantee a shot at the belt for Overeem. The Heavyweight division is pretty stacked so Overeem will have to work his way up. At 40 years old, time is running out for Overeem so it’s now or never.
