Microsoft is set to acquire ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softwork. The purchase is one of the biggest buys in gaming history. Bethesda is one of the largest game developer and publishers in the world, and Microsoft is said to purchase the company for $7.5 billion dollars.
Bethesda Softwork publishes games such as Doom, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls. The purchase is a huge bonus for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. With the purchase, Bethesda games will be available on the service, therefore making more games available for users. This will help continue to build the Xbox cloud platform which currently has over 15 million subscribers. Bethesda now expands Xbox’s studio teams from 15 to 23.
Xbox Game Pass is loaded with over 100+ games and has a great mixture of classic and new games. Some of the biggest new games on the cloud service include Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Company of Heroes 2, and Wasteland 3. Xbox is going to be tough to beat when it comes to the cloud based subscription service. This is a massive move for Microsoft as the launch of their new consoles is right around the corner. It will be interesting to see how Playstation competes with this move…
