Coach Lalonde announced that Red Wings forward Matt Luff will be out 10-12 weeks. Luff was sent into the boards face first by a nasty hit by Montreal’s Juraj Slafkovsky. The injury was labeled as an upper body injury, it will require surgery.

Matt Luff recently recovered from 16 stitches and losing several teeth from a 89 MPH slap-shot to the face. He showed tremendous toughness showing up to practice the day after the injury, with a cage on his helmet ready to go. 4 games later, Luff was now involved in this scary situation.

Although nothing has been announced suspension wise for Slafkovsky as of yet. Surely after Michael Rasmussen missing two games for high sticking Bruins David Krejci. The Red Wings will expect the proper punishment will be handed out too Slafkovsky.

Red Wings Captain Dylan Larkin spoke on the hit after game saying.” It was a bad hit, (Slafkovsky) He knew it right away..”  “It’s scary to see a teammate, or anyone go into the boards like that”.
