As first reported by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Lions are signing defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to a multiyear contract extension.
Over the last two seasons, Glenn has interviews for several head coaching positions. During this recent hiring process, he interviewed with the Cardinals and the Colts. Last season, it was with the Saints and the Broncos. He has been with Dan Campbell since they coached together in New Orleans. With this extension, the Lions maintain a level of continuity, with both Glenn and Ben Johnson returning as the offensive coordinator.
While the Lions have allowed a league leading 392.4 yards a game, there is a young nucleus of players on the defense that were key to the Lions success towards the end of the season. They were second, just behind the Patriots, in QB hurries with 61.
