The Detroit Red Wings‘ five-game winning streak was snapped by the Seattle Kraken in a hard-fought battle on Saturday night. The game was evenly matched for most of the night, but the Kraken managed to capitalize on a few key opportunities to secure a 4-2 victory over the Red Wings. Detroit will look to bounce back quickly as they prepare for their huge matchup against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night.

Detroit’s Captain Dylan Larkin extended his point streak to seven games with a goal late in the third period. Larkin now has 13 points (7G, 6A) leading the NHL in points since returning from the All-Star break.

Coaches Comments

When asked about the biggest difference in the teams performance tonight compared to their previous five wins, Head Coach Derek Lalonde responded with:

Lack of execution. We didn’t execute very well, didn’t execute some of our offense. Then just our second effort wasn’t there tonight, so they were a little heavier in us. They executed better, they made a few more plays we just left too much out there and this was a winnable game. We had plenty of opportunities. We just didn’t execute throughout, didn’t give ourselves a chance.

I think we were prepared. Again just off a little bit in our execution and just off a little bit with some coverage. And again, we’re gonna look back at this and It’s gonna be tough to watch cause this was very winnable game.

Red Wings’ Milestones

Tonight was career game 300 for both Tyler Bertuzzi and Filip Hronek. Bertuzzi recorded his 9th assist on the year on the Dylan Larkin goal in the third period. Bertuzzi spoke post game about career game #300 saying “Im very grateful I’m able to play in the NHL, and hopefully I’m able to play in many more.
