The Detroit Red Wings may be going through a tough stretch on the ice, but off the ice, there’s reason for optimism. Thanks to the team’s general manager, Steve Yzerman. Since taking over the team in 2019, Yzerman has been implementing a comprehensive plan to rebuild the Red Wings into a championship contender. Dubbed the “Yzer-Plan” by fans and analysts alike, this strategy involves a focus on drafting and developing young talent, while also making shrewd trades to acquire future assets. One of the most highly anticipated prospects in Steve Yzerman’s system, Sebastian Cossa is currently thriving with the Toledo Walleye.
Cossa is quickly establishing himself as one of the most promising prospects in the Detroit Red Wings’ system. The young goaltender was selected 15th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, meanwhile has been impressing ever since. Currently playing with the Toledo Walleye, Cossa has been putting up some incredible numbers in net. Over his last six starts, he’s gone undefeated while only allowing three goals on 167 shots faced. Giving him a remarkable 965 save percentage and 1.00 GAA in that stretch.
