The Detroit Lions have clawed their way into the Top 10 of the latest SI NFL power rankings, landing at number 10 following the recent free agency moves. The team made several key signings, in safety CJ Gardner-Johnson and running back David Montgomery. These additions have bolstered the Lions’ defense and added depth to their offense, earning them a spot among the league’s elite.

Here’s what Connor Orr of SI said:

While I was disappointed the Lions lowballed Jamaal Williams, being able to hold on to Ben Johnson was the most important part of their offseason. Detroit added some serious glue to its secondary with the Chauncey Gardner-Johnson signing, and brought in David Montgomery to cover the supplementary running back position. The Lions have been “on the rise” for two years now. It’s time to see what Dan Campbell can do when he starts the race at the front of the pack.

Detroit fans are brimming with optimism for the upcoming season and eagerly expect their team’s high-level performance. Despite being aware that there are still more tasks ahead of them, Detroit’s recent moves have put them in a good spot to aim for a playoff berth. Thomas Chavez has already identified the most fitting additions to the Lions roster, in further pursuit of strengthening their team.

The offseason still has a long way to go, providing ample opportunity for the Lions to climb the power rankings.
