The Detroit Lions have officially announced the extension of contracts for three pivotal members of their staff: Executive Vice President and General Manager Brad Holmes, Head Coach Dan Campbell, and Special Assistant to the President/CEO and Chairperson Chris Spielman. These extensions signal a strong commitment to stability and continued growth for the team, with Holmes and Campbell’s agreements extending through the 2027 season.

Brad Holmes: The Architect

The Detroit Lions have ensured stability at the top by extending Executive Vice President and General Manager Brad Holmes, who arrived in 2021, has played a pivotal role in reshaping the Lions’ roster, demonstrating a keen eye for talent. Notable draft picks like Penei Sewell, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Aidan Hutchinson have become cornerstones since being drafted. Holmes’ expertise, honed over two decades in football scouting and management, notably with the Los Angeles Rams, has been central to Detroit’s recent achievements, including a memorable 12-5 season and an NFC Championship appearance.

“We are thrilled to have Brad and Dan under contract for the next four seasons,” said Detroit Lions Principal Owner and Chair Sheila Hamp. “They have been the driving force behind the rebuild of our football team and the success that we have enjoyed. The continuity they provide for our football program will continue to be the key to our future success on the field.”

Dan Campbell: The Leader

Head Coach Dan Campbell, whose tenure began days after Holmes’, will also remain with the Lions through 2027. His leadership has catalyzed a dramatic transformation, elevating the team from a 3-13-1 record to division champions and a playoff run. The former tight end’s impact is evident in Detroit’s ascent to the NFC Championship game, earning him recognition as a Coach of the Year finalist. Campbell’s authentic approach has resonated well within the organization and among fans.

Chris Spielman: The Legacy

The Lions have also announced a multi-year extension with Chris Spielman, the Special Assistant to the President/CEO and Chairperson. A revered figure in Lions’ lore, Spielman’s return to the franchise has been influential in fostering a culture of excellence and resilience. His playing career set high standards, and his ongoing contributions off the field are pivotal in the team’s pursuit of sustained success.

“I could not be more proud of the work that Brad, Dan, and Chris have done for our organization,” said President and CEO Rod Wood. “They have selflessly worked together to build a winning culture within the Lions. I am excited to continue working with them to create the sustained success that we envision for the team, our fans, and the city of Detroit.”

As the Detroit Lions look forward to building on their recent achievements, the extended tenures of Holmes, Campbell, and Spielman promise continuity and optimism for the team, their fans, and the city of Detroit.
