Dana White has confirmed that the UFC has offered Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier a fight, but will it really happen? This all comes after both fighters agreed to an exhibition match outside of the UFC for charity in December. Let’s be serious though, Dana White would NEVER let that happen.

The Drama Continues Between White And McGregor

Dana White and Conor McGregor haven’t seen eye to eye lately. The two have been going back and forth on on social media and in the press after McGregor called out White for lying. If you need to catch up on the drama regarding that story click here. On Monday, McGregor reached out to Poirier to set up a charity fight to benefit both McGregor’s and Poirier’s foundation. Both fighters agreed to fight on December 12th, but of course Dana was naving none of that and had this to say on Barstool Sports

No, Conor and I have not talked outside the public stuff. I don’t know if you just saw, the Saudis went after Conor basically said that’s a lie that fight with Manny Pacquiao is happening and you better take that down in the next 15 minutes and we’re going to sue you. He took it down. You don’t see the poster anymore about him and Pacquiao that he posted. Then he called out Poirier with Conor in Dublin for charity. So we offered them both a fight. We offered Dustin and Conor a fight so we’re waiting to hear back from both of them.

Will McGregor And Poirier Ever Run It Back?

McGregor and Poirier fought SIX YEARS AGO at UFC 148. McGregor ended the fight in the first round and continued to climb the division ladder to win the UFC Featherweight belt, while Poirier returned to the Lightweight division. A lot has changed since UFC 148, but both fighters need to run it back. This is a fight that needs to happen, and NOT outside of the UFC. If it happens outside of the organization there’s a chance that since it’s for charity there’s a chance it won’t even be considered a “professional fight”. This means it won’t go on either fighter’s record since it would be considered an exhibition match. Plus, if Dana White allows fighters to fight outside of the octagon it will become a regular occurrence that will destroy the organization. It already happened for McGregor vs Mayweather, but of course Dana White got a cut from that. Imagine if it happened without White’s approval or pockets being involved? Madness.

Why Not Have The Fight In The UFC AND Donate To Both Charities?

Dana White wants this fight in the UFC, and for good reason. It would do HUGE PPV numbers and it is a pivotal match up in the Lightweight division. I mean, that’s if it happens in the LW division. Regardless of all the specifics, why can’t Dana White make the fight happen and donate a huge chunk of PPV proceeds to both McGregor’s and Poirier’s charities? The man is worth $4 BILLION dollars and I would totally spend money on a UFC PPV if I knew the money was going to good causes. This would not only be a big draw, it would make the UFC look great. Dustin seems to be in according to his recent tweet, so now all we need is for Dana and Conor to make up and make this fight official.
