Breaking news out of Allen Park today as the Detroit Lions signed punter Jack Fox to a contract extension through the 2026 season. With this extension, he will become the highest paid punter in the NFL. It was first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Fox was signed to the Lions practice squad after a tryout on December 5, 2019.  In his first season in 2020, Fox received the following honors: 1st Team All-Conference Pro Football Writers, 1st Team Pro Football Focus, 2nd Team AP All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.  Since his debut, Fox has led the NFL in gross punting average and ranks second in net punting average.

Detroit Lions Executive Vice President and General Manager released a statement via DetroitLions.com on the extension of Jack Fox.

“Jack has earned everything he has accomplished in his young career, and he sets a great example for his teammates with his professionalism and work ethic. We are thrilled to have him as a leader on our team for years to come. I would like to thank Jack, his agent Sean Kiernan, and Brandon Sosna for doing a great job in helping us reach this agreement.”

The Lions resume play tomorrow as they travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys.
