Anzalone recorded 125 tackles last season, including seven for a loss. Those 125 tackles are a career high for the linebacker. Alex came over via New Orleans, as he joined Dan Campbell when Campbell was the defensive coordinator. Linebacker coach Kelvin Sheppard said to the media after the season was over how important Anzalone was to the defense.
“That’s the guy who gets the car started up, so to speak, making sure guys are in the right position, making checks, going out of his way to make sure his teammates are in the right position on certain plays and checks we have and doing things he doesnt have to do and he’s been doing since day one. He was doing it last year but this year, it has gone to another level”.
He started in 17 games and played in 95% of the team’s defensive snaps.
