The Detroit Red Wings earned their first win since returning from the All-Star break with their 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames at Little Caesars Arena. Captain Dylan Larkin tied the game on the power-play with five seconds remaining in the 2nd period. Filip Zadina scored the game winning goal five minutes into the third period on fantastic play assisted by Oskar Sundqvist.
Ville Husso came up huge for Detroit tonight with 35 saves. 15 of those saves coming in the third period, where the Wings were held to just four shots. Ville talked about how important it was for the Wings to get a win tonight after falling short to Edmonton.
“It was a huge win for us. After the Edmonton game, I think that was a winnable ball game too. but it got away from us. So we came in and played hard a full 60 minutes. We just need to come in every night and play like that and give us a chance to win.”

Zadina Shines in Return for Red Wings’
Filip Zadina spoke post game about scoring his first goal of the season and just all the emotions he was facing heading into tonights matchup meanwhile propelling Detroit to a victory.
“It’s been a long time. I’ve been waiting for the chance to be on the ice with them. It happened today and I was just going to the game thinking about just enjoying the game and playing the right away obviously. I haven’t played for a long time it felt like first game of the season for me. Obviously like we want to achieve to get close as we can to make the playoffs and I wanna help the team push for the playoffs.”
