Khabib’s Trainer Says Fight Will Happen Before Retirement.
The biggest fight in UFC history will get a sequel according to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s trainer. Javier Mendez made the statement during an interview with The Express on Thursday…
“Let’s put it this way: If that makes the most money out of anybody, then that means it’s the most interesting fight people want to see. Correct? “Obviously I would think everybody still wants to see that fight. Otherwise, why would they pay for it. That’s why I think the UFC would do that.”

Khabib is currently 28-0 and will face Justin Gaethje in October. The undefeated fighter has said in the past he wants GSP for his final fight, but if the UFC wants another huge payday they’ll book Khabib vs McGregor 2. The first PPV holds the record for biggest PPV in UFC history with over 2.4 Million PPV buys.
Should The UFC Wait On Booking The Rematch Until After The Pandemic?
As stated in previous articles, it might be best for the UFC to wait to book Khabib vs McGregor 2. Sure, the UFC would do huge PPV numbers with the sequel, but with no live gate money coming due to the pandemic it would be wise for the organization to hold off until fans are allowed back. In the meantime, there’s plenty of fights to make for Khabib. Khabib vs GSP, Khabib vs Poirier 2, and of course maybe 5th times a charm and the UFC should give Khabib vs Ferguson one more go. Either way, Nurmagomedov has plenty of options rolling into 2021, that is unless Gaethje gets the W in October…
