After earning an impressive victory over Sean O’Malley at UFC 252, Marlon “Chito” Vera is calling out a number of high ranked fights in the UFC’s Bantamweight division. Vera secured a TKO victory over O’Malley in the very first round after attacking O’Malley’s legs and ending the fight with vicious ground and pound strikes.
Chito Deserves A High Ranked Opponent Next
Vera earned five straight finishes before losing to Yadong Song at UFC on ESPN 8. Anyone with two eyes would see that Vera didn’t lose that fight, and once again the judges made the wrong decision. Regardless, finishing O’Malley in such a dominant fashion proves that Vera is ready for a bigger challenge. O’Malley was 11-0 before suffering a loss to Vera and one of the top prospects in the UFC. Vera made it clear on Hablemos MMA that he’s aiming for the top of the division for his next fight.
“I’m just waiting for the UFC call, but I want to fight sometime in November, the latest December. I don’t want it to go any longer than that. I’m ready. I’m prepared. I want to fight, make money, move up the rankings and keep at it. The division is interesting, and it’s getting better as time goes by. I would like to fight against Dominick Cruz, Jimmie Rivera or Jose Aldo. One of those three is the fight that makes sense for me and would do me well. I really want one of those three. We’ll see what the UFC gives me, but I think those are the fights to make.”

Vera Has Everything It Takes To Be A UFC Champ
Chito has been dominating the Bantamweight division for a number of years now. A win over Cruz, Aldo, or Rivera would put him in the spotlight for a potential title shot in 2021. If Vera pulls off a victory over any of those fighters we could very well see Yan vs Vera in 2021. The only problem right now is most of the roster also wants a fight to end the year, but if the UFC was smart they’ll book a finisher like Chito to cap off the year.
