A lot of Detroit Lions fans wanted Tua Tagovailoa in the first round of this years NFL Draft. Tua will start the season on the bench for the Miami Dolphins.

Detroit had a decision to make this year. Was it time to move off Matthew Stafford? Tua Tagovailoa was the guy a lot of people thought the Lions would taken at #3. He had an incredible college career at Alabama. If it were not for injury he could have been the #1 overall pick. Tua has all the tools to be a great NFL QB. Detroit passed on Tua. Electing to go with Jeff Okudah instead. Leaving the Miami Dolphins to take him at #5.

There has been a lot of chatter about Okudah starting the season as the nickle for the Lions. People want production NOW out of the #3 pick. But, as we know the adjustment for DB’s to the NFL is rarely quick. Hopefully, with Tua not starting the season as the Dolphins #1 QB, some heat is off Okudah.

Without a solid preseason, judging rookies is hard for coaches and impossible for fans. I think both of these guys will be starting by mid season and both will be successful. If Tua ends up leading the Dolphins to a Super Bowl at any point, it will for sure lead to some great talk on what we should have done. Until they get even one snap of NFL action Im going to reserve my judgement.
