The Tampa Bay Rays silenced the Detroit Tigers in a 4-0 victory on Opening Day. Detroit’s offense struggled as lefty Shane McClanahan dominated the Tigers’ lineup from the get-go. Tampa Bay’s four runs were crafted through six hits and three walks, culminating in a solo home run by star shortstop Wander Franco.
Meadows Shines in Tigers’ Dismal Offensive Display
Austin Meadows emerged as the sole offensive bright spot for Detroit, recording three hits in four at-bats. Teammates Riley Greene and veteran Miguel Cabrera each contributed a hit, but failed to bring any runs home.
Rodriguez Shows Promise Despite Opening Day Loss
Eduardo Rodriguez, the Tigers’ Opening Day starter, put in a decent performance in his 5.1 innings on the mound. Though he allowed three earned runs, three hits, and two walks, he struck out five Rays batters.
Tigers Seek Redemption in Saturday’s Game
After a day off, the Tigers will return to the diamond on Saturday, aiming for a win against the Rays. The first pitch is set for 4:10 PM.
