The Detroit Tigers are injured. Although Detroit had a successful month of May, it looks like they will go into June without some of their core players. How can the Detroit Tigers respond and who could step up in the wake of these injuries?

Injuries to the Rotation
Obviously, the Tigers are still missing three young starters in Matt Manning, Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize. But the rotation took another hit. Eduardo Rodriguez, the team’s ace was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a finger injury. You also cannot forget the injuries to Spencer Turnbull and Beau Brieske, two other pitchers who could be starting for the Tigers.
Alex Faedo was called up earlier this month to take a spot in the rotation and has been solid. He struck out ten batters and walked zero against the White Sox, but then struggled against the Rangers. Faedo’s ERA sits at 5.54 through 26.0 innings pitched this year.
The Detroit Tigers called up 28-year-old right hander, Braden Bristo to help solidify the pitching depth. Bristo struggled in Toledo, giving up 12 runs in 14 innings pitched, but has pitched five scoreless innings in the majors in 2023. The most likely option to replace Eduardo Rodriguez in the rotation is to pitch an opener, with Tyler Alexander and Mason Englert being the most likely options.
Braden Bristo, in 21 Triple-A innings in two organizations, allowed 24 runs. So of course, he pitches a clean eighth in his Tiger debut. He didn't allow a run with Rays earlier this season either.

Injuries to the Starting Lineup
The Riley Greene injury is a huge bummer for the Tigers. Greene was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left fibula stress fracture. Fans speculated he could of injured his hand robbing a home run against the White Sox, but that has not been confirmed. The other outfielder injured for the Tigers is Matt Vierling, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with lower back soreness.
The Tigers outfield will now likely consist of Akil Baddoo, Zach McKinstry and Zach Short. The Tigers acquired veteran Jake Marisnick from the White Sox to play in the outfield as well. Baddoo has found his power stroke for the Tigers, so you hope he can lead the outfield offensively in June. Nick Maton will also see an increase in his at-bats, with Zach McKinstry and Zach Short getting more time in the outfield. Tyler Nevin was also recalled from Toledo to provide some depth and power in the infield.
