The Detroit Lions officially welcomed guard Kayode Awosika to the active roster on Thursday.  Awosika comes to Detroit from the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad.

The 23-year-old is the son of Nigerian immigrants.  He was born and raised in Minnesota, where he attended Maple Grove High School. Post high school, he joined the Bulls at the University of Buffalo in New York. Awosika went undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft before signing as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The guard spent the majority of his time with the Eagles on the practice squad. He made his NFL debut in Philadelphia’s week 18 game against the Dallas Cowboys. He saw action in 43 snaps at right guard.

Despite playing mostly tackle in college, he joins the roster as a guard. Awosika replaced Tommy Kraemer, whom the Lions placed on injured reserve Thursday afternoon.
