Another Tuesday night in the books which means another Hard Knocks episode has come and gone. This episode was much more intense with an inside look into the preparation before the final preseason game. Here are my takeaways from Episode 4 of Hard Knocks:
Jared Goff More Confident than Ever
Jared Goff has been very good all summer, and has frustrated Defensive Coordinator Aaron Glenn. In tonight’s episode of Hard Knocks, Coach Glenn can be seen shouting at his players with frustration given Jared Goff and the offense had gone 16 of 18 during practice. Jared Goff is looking to rebound after a disappointing first season with the Detroit Lions.
Off the field, Jared Goff has announced a new partnership with a local nonprofit called FATE Detroit. Goff’s brand ‘J16’ has partnered with FATE Detroit to help profit the nonprofit’s youth scholarship fund. It was great to finally see Detroit’s leader both on and off the field.
Ben Johnson Finally Makes an Appearance
The highly anticipated Hard Knocks debut of Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson was as anticipated. Earlier in the week, Ben Johnson was asked about Hard Knocks and jokingly said “Have I not been on there?” Tonight’s episode showcased the communication skills that Ben Johnson possesses.
Dan Campbell & Brad Holmes’ Working Relationship
Watching both Dan and Brad going through the names of the players was refreshing insight for the viewers who have yet to see much of these two working together. The team over at Hard Knocks did an excellent job highlighting the challenges both the Head Coach and General Manager had when making roster decisions, and the human element was a fine touch towards the end.
