Tom Izzo and the Spartans have been red hot when it comes to getting basketball recruits. On April 20th, Jesse McCulloch is going to make his college decision. Michigan State is included with Alabama, Virginia Tech, and Xavier in McCulloch’s four finalists. He’s listed as a 6-9, 190-pound power forward from Cleveland, Ohio, on 247Sports.

McCulloch Recruitment Breakdown
McCulloch is listed as a four-star on ESPN, On3, and 247 Sports. He’s considered by 247Sports as the No. 1 prospect from Ohio and No. 86th prospect overall. Additionally, this is a prospect that is expected to rise up the rankings as time progresses and will get a better ranking.
The Michigan State Spartans were one of the first to begin recruiting McCulloch and has been consistent the entire way. Moreover, Justin Thind, Corey Robinson, Stephen Brooks, and Chris Arvin all have crystal ball predictions in for 247Sports, with no predictions for any other schools.

2024 Roster Outlook
If Michigan State is able to land the commitment, it would be the second 4-star prospect of the month for MSU. However, Kur Teng’s commitment came on April 3rd and is a “bucket-getter” that should be a force as a 6-4 SG. With the addition of McCulloch and Teng, Michigan State’s class will already be in the top 10 for 2024.
It’s extremely early in the recruiting cycle, and any commitment could flip to another school, but it’s another good start for the MSU Hoops class. The anticipation is for another four-person signing class after signing four guys in 2023. We’ll have to see if Michigan State ends up landing another five-star program, but don’t expect anything to occur for a couple of months.
The expectation would be Malik Hall and Tyson Walker leaving, with the potential of A.J. Hoggard, Mady Sissoko, and possibly Xavier Booker leaving after next season. All of this is just speculation, and a lot of things could happen. But the future is bright for MSU Hoops.
