First Period Fire
Lucas Raymond wasted no time getting the Red Wings on the scoreboard, netting a goal just under five minutes into the first period. He slipped the puck beneath the goalie’s right arm pad, igniting the Red Wings’ offense. David Perron continued his scoring streak, tallying the Wings’ second goal five minutes later. Jordan Oesterle set Perron up for a breakaway with a perfect pass, and Perron’s quick deke left Canadiens goalie Cayden Primeau no chance. Detroit led 2-0.
Second Period Surge
Matt Luff found the net with 12:48 remaining in the second period, showcasing his awareness by locating a rebound amid a crowded area. Red Wings goalie Ville Husso had an impressive second period, fending off multiple Canadiens attempts. As the period neared its end, Joe Veleno channeled the spirit of Tomas Holmstrom, redirecting a teammate’s wrist shot from in front of the net to put the Wings up 4-0.
Perron’s Persistence Pays Off
Midway through the third period, David Perron scored his second goal of the game, capping off a fantastic night for the Red Wings. Perron’s recent scoring consistency has been a driving force for the team’s success.
Key Contributors
David Perron finished the game with three points (two goals and one assist). Both Olli Maatta and Jordan Oesterle contributed two assists apiece. Ville Husso earned a shutout, stopping all 23 Canadiens shots on goal.
