On Saturday night, the Detroit Red Wings handed the Bruins their first regulation loss of the season with a much-needed 5-4 victory at Little Caesars Arena. This win effectively snapped Detroit’s three-game home losing streak and bolstered their record to 7-4-1, pushing them back into the 2nd place in the Atlantic Division.
The Red Wings, who have struggled with sluggish starts in their past five games, encountered a similar situation that evening. However, this time, they managed to stage a remarkable rally, largely thanks to the outstanding performance in the third period by University of Michigan alumni Dylan Larkin and J.T. Compher. This dynamic duo played a role in each goal during the final period and successfully held off the Bruins, securing the victory.
Detroit outshot the Bruins 40-30. Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso, despite a challenging first period, demonstrated resilience by stopping 26 shots throughout the game, including numerous high-quality scoring opportunities from the opposition.

Coaches Comments on the Red Wings Win
Following the game, Head Coach Derek Lalonde highlighted the contrasts between this match against Boston and their previous encounter. He also expressed his satisfaction with the physicality and resilience displayed by his team in the game.
We were good throughout, thought we got what we deserved. Probably felt a little, I wouldn’t say the word unfair.. but to be trailing after 40 minutes, when I thought we had a really good 40 minutes then to just keep at it and obviously to trail that team in the third and find a way to win in regulation. It was good.
Love the pushback our guys gave. They’re a team that plays with a swagger. Plays with an edge and I thought we had some pretty good pushback to it tonight.
Just a solid throughout and again, just a good team win. Turns into a pretty good week. Suddenly you gotta win with the islanders and the B’s, two playoff teams. So much needed day off tomorrow then we’re off to New York.
The Detroit Red Wings have HockeyTown absolutely BUZZIN 😤
