There’s an interesting development brewing before the Lions vs. Ravens game on Sunday. And it’s surrounding the health of Lamar Jackson.

Jonas Shaffer from The Baltimore Sun reports that Jackson was one of five players not present Thursday at Ravens practice. He said his hip was sore on Wednesday after his flip into the endzone during the Ravens’ 36-35 victory over the Chiefs.

The other four players absent from Ravens practice today were Ronnie Stanley (ankle), Hollywood Brown (ankle), Derek Wolfe (hip/back), and DeShon Elliott (brain injury).

The Lions’ coaching staff, in various ways, have stated that they want to test this roster against the league’s best. Despite starting 0-2 this season, it’s safe to surmise they won’t lose any sleep if Lamar Jackson doesn’t play on Sunday.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell knows how dynamic Jackson is.

During his Wednesday afternoon media session, Campbell fielded a question Jackson. When asked about the last time he’s seen a quarterback with Jackson’s skill set, he was quick to reply.

“Michael Vick probably would be the closest thing,” Campbell told reporters. “Even back in the day, he created the issues, he did. I would say that’s the closest thing that this guy is. He’s a rare breed for the fact that he has explosiveness and the speed that he has and then certainly being able to throw the ball because the minute you start trying to take all of that stuff away, and you have to have a jump on it.”

Lamar Jackson missing practice on Thursday could wind up a non-issue. However, it’s something to keep an eye on over the next few days. Additionally, the Lions need to monitor Hollywood Brown’s health. He’s a game changer for the Ravens too.
