Nickelodeon brought something old and something new to their network yesterday. The something new was NFL football. The something old is every fan over 30.
This was a great weekend of NFL Playoff Football. The games were all great to watch. We got 3 games on Saturday AND Sunday. Needless to say the Super Wild Card Weekend was a success. What made it even better was the game being played on Nickelodeon!
If you missed it, the kid network Nickelodeon, showed the NFL on their network for the first time ever. Filled with Slime, Sponge Bob, a “NVP” award, Young Sheldon explaining the rules of the game and Nickelodeon cast members calling it on TV!
One area where you could tell there was a young audience, Mitch F’n Trubisky won the “NVP” (Nick Valuable Player). Mitch did not have a good game but apparently, like Elmo, the kids love him. It’s just another funny takeaway from a fun game.
Obviously on the field the players didn’t see anything different. But the watching experience was new and fun. And Twitter went wild for it. Especially after the game when Saint’s Head Coach Sean Payton got slimed!
Overall it was a fun night of football for everyone, but the Chicago Bears. I enjoyed the new style of graphics and the fun take on the calls and rules. I’m going to assume that this will be done a lot more in the future on Nickelodeon. It appears the country wants it too!
