Ndamukong Suh responded to a tweet about Aidan Hutchinson yesterday. The message was pretty simple. He doesn’t want the Detroit Lions to make the same mistake they made with him.

The Detroit Lions PR Tweeted out a stat stating that Lions Rookie DE Aidan Hutchinson is the 4th Rookie Defensive Lineman in Lions history with an interception. The other 3 are Ndamukong Suh (2010), Jim Doran (1951) and Thurman McGraw (1950).

Carmen Vitali then tagged Suh ion a tweet and brought the stat to his attention.

This is where things got interesting and Suh took his shot at the Lions upper brass.

You can read into the comment all you want.  But at it’s surface it shows that Suh is still holding a grudge about not being resigned by the Detroit Lions.  He was the center piece of the best defense the Lions have had in the past 20 years.  In 2014 the Detroit Lions ranked #2 in total team defense. Suh was a major piece of that puzzle. He racked up 53 tackles and 8.5 sacks in the 2014 season.

Ndamukong Suh and Detroit

Former Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell once told me that in 2014 that team believed they were a Super Bowl contender. I cant argue with that.

Unfortunately the Lions did not resign Suh in 2014 and he took his talents to South Beach.  After that year the Lions never seemed to be able to capture the magic again.

Suh left, Calvin Retired in 2016, Jim Caldwell was fired in 2017 and the sentiment was “9-7 isn’t good enough”. Any Lions fan knows that since that time the Lions have been arguably the worst franchise in the entire NFL.

Suh is trying to warn Brad Holmes and Sheila Hamp to not let this happen again.

How Aidan Hutchinson is stacking up

So far this season Hutchinson has been hot and cold. One half he will have 3 sacks, the next 3 games hardly a tackle.  You expect inconsistency out of any rookie.  But after his performance on Sunday vs Aaron Rodgers, Hutchinson put his talents on display.  Consistent pressure, smart football and a masterful interception.

So far this season Aidan has 20 tackles, 9 assists, 4.5 sacks and an interception.

Fun fact: That was Aidan Hutchinson’s first interception in his life!  Not high school, not college but against Aaron Rodgers in a big win for the Lions.

Lets hope that he can become the next Ndamukong Suh.  But even more than that, lets hope the Detroit Lions upper brass doesn’t let him slip away.

The Lions ate 2-6 on the season and travel to Chicago next Sunday at 1p.
