Conor McGregor is making headlines after using Twitter to announce that he is fighting Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East in 2021. McGregor has been on a roll as of late, blasting Dana White and the UFC on his Twitter and sharing private DMs between himself and the UFC president.
McGregor Wanted Bout With Diego Sanchez
I’ll be honest, this one confuses me. McGregor reaching out to Dana for a fight with Diego Sanchez is something I wouldn’t expect. It’s 2020 though and clearly there are no rules. McGregor wanted to use 2020 as a “season” and fight multiple times a year, but obviously COVID-19 put an end to that. I think we all know how a McGregor vs Sanchez fight would end. It seems as though the UFC and Conor couldn’t come to an agreement so he’s now turning his sights to boxing once again…
“I’m Boxing Manny Pacquiao Next In The Middle East.”
McGregor took to Twitter on Friday to finish his MMA rant by announcing that he is fighting Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East. Pacquiao confirmed the announcment and stated that his purse will go towards victims of COVID-19.
“For the sake of all the Filipino Covid-19 victims, Senator Manny Pacquiao will be fighting UFC superstar Conor McGregor next year. The huge portion of his earnings will proceed to those who are affected nationwide by the pandemic.”
Pacquiao’s Office Statement
Here’s something to consider will all of this though, Conor has a history of tweeting during important UFC cards. He’s done it time and time again, and it works honestly. We (the media) post every tweet McGregor posts something on social media. UFC 253 is currently on everyone’s mind and McGregor wants to do his part to make it about him once again. I don’t know what to believe anymore. 2020 is weird.
