Dan Campbell was non-commital Monday afternoon ago regarding D’Andre Swift playing on Sunday vs. the 49ers. When asked about Swift’s health status, he ducked the question. However, less than 24 hours later, Campbell says Swift and Michael Brockers will suit up on Sunday.

Campbell made an appearance of the Detroit Lions’ flagship radio station on Tuesday morning, where he provided an update on Swift’s status.

“We got all our guys back,” said Campbell. “Everybody’s getting healthy at the right time. And we got em’ all going. So, hopefully, we’ll be clicking.”

One of the interviewers followed up, asking if D’Andre Swift and Michael Brockers would be ready. Campbell replied, stating they should be “ready to go.”

Nagging injuries sidelined Swift and Brockers throughout most of the training camp. There was huge concern surrounding Swift’s health status a little over two weeks ago.

Detroit Lions running back Jermar Jefferson (28) and running back D’Andre Swift (32) work out together during training camp at the practice facility in Allen Park, Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021.

And that’s because Campbell was himself.

“Swift concerns me a little bit,” Campbell told reporters on August 24th. “Just with getting his wind back and being able to take a load.”

With him suiting up on Sunday increases the Lions’ chances of earning a W in Campbell’s first game leading the franchise. Along with Jamaal Williams and Jermar Jefferson, the Lions have one of the most promising running back units in the NFC North, if not the entire NFC.

The potential is there. With D’Andre Swift back, expect to see flashes of it sooner than later.
