The Detroit Lions announced their inactive players late Sunday morning for their matchup vs. the 49ers. One of the names disappointing to see on that list is rookie Levi Onwuzurike.
The rookie defensive tackle out of Washington is a player that Lions fans anticipated seeing. After all, his comments immediately after the Lions drafted him were next level.
“I like f*cking people up,” said Onwuzurike.
“I like to get off the line and just put my helmet or my hands on an offensive lineman and fuck up an offense’s scheme, pretty much.”
Who doesn’t want to see that?
There’s no news on why Onwuzurike isn’t playing, but his health has been an issue throughout training camp. In August, the Lions sent the rookie defensive tackle to a specialist, as Onwuzurike dealt with some back issues.
“He’s kind of had a tight back and some things. So we just wanted to get some clarity on where that was at,” Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell told reporters.
“So we’ve kind of sent him around to a couple of specialists, just making sure. And everything seems to be good.”
Hopefully for the Lions, Levi Onwuzurike will be ok moving forward. He will be a big piece to their defensive plans.
Also on the list of inactive players for the Lions is:
- WR Khadarel Hodge
- WR Tom Kennedy
- G Tommy Kramer
- OLB Julian Okwara
