On Monday, highly-touted draft prospect DT Jalen Carter visited with the Detroit Lions. Carter’s name has been brought up a lot lately pertaining to his character, but the Lions got a closer look.
There is a good chance the Lions will have the opportunity to draft Carter. The fan base is split over whether they should draft him or not.
Here are Twitter’s reactions to Jalen Carter’s visit, as well as if the Lions should draft him or not.
Some fans are open to the idea of Carter to Detroit, and are more than excited to draft him.
Jalen Carter, get used to the surroundings, you will be a Detroit Lion. #Onepride

I think if Brad Holmes and company are comfortable drafting Jalen Carter at 6 then we should all be all in on the selection. I wouldn’t complain one bit. pic.twitter.com/eJe9CZn7hC

Everything the Lions are doing and saying about Jalen Carter screams “playing it cool” Body language says draft crush to me. https://t.co/FpWzVYePHs

On the other hand, some are not convinced. Jalen Carter and his red flags may be too concerning, and he is not a culture fit for the Lions. Is Carter a franchise cornerstone piece? That is still up for discussion. The talent and measurables are there. The effort plus the risks are turning people’s heads.
I’m a no on Jalen Carter. Doesn’t feel like a Campbell/Holmes guy
Lions have turned this around by blending talent & work ethic. Guys like Hutch and Sewell. Those are cornerstones. Have to treat 6th overall the same way https://t.co/QZXD4BfDnh

The Lions aren't taking Jalen Carter.

👀 JC is on his way to Detroit.
That being said, I still don’t think he’s one of Dan Campbell’s Detroit @Lions https://t.co/Z4U64KtJnX

I don’t think the lions will draft jalen Carter. Detroit and seattle are in similar situations with similar needs and similar culture. If the Seahawks pass on him, I don’t see why the lions wouldn’t also pass. If he’s on the lions board still, I would expect the same for seattle.

Devon Witherspoon to the Lions instead of Jalen Carter? Cornerback has been mocked to the Lions quite often. Maybe Detroit will look to add more threats to the secondary, especially with Jeff Okudah being traded to the Falcons.
Still don’t think the Lions are drafting Jalen Carter. According to @AlbertBreer “other teams believe Illinois CB Devon Witherspoon is going to be really attractive to Detroit at No. 6.” #NFLDraftNews

Today is the Day Jalen Carter comes to Detroit and pleads his case as to why he's a Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes culture fit.
Lions biggest need going into the draft is DT and if Jalen ✅ all the boxes Lions could have one of the scariest front 7 in the NFL.
🙏🏾 he's our guy. pic.twitter.com/UnQk0KA6mE

A Dan Campbell/Jalen Carter combo seems like a really bad idea and I think the Lions FO recognizes that….

A little over a week away until the NFL Draft, and no one truly knows what the Lions will do.
Ultimately, it will be interesting to see what Brad Holmes and Co. unearth in their visit with Jalen Carter. Dan Campbell previously said they heard from interesting things from a former teammate of Carter. Whether those things were good or bad, who knows.
They will have plenty of options with their two first round picks, and I think there are no wrong decisions. With the way free agency has gone, the Lions can do whatever they want. They are going to be adding two guaranteed studs, so it will be exciting to welcome those future Lions to Detroit.
