Jake Paul vs Ben Askren is set to headline the next Triller PPV card as the YouTube star and former UFC fighter will meet on April 17th. The bout was officially announced on Monday and will serve as the main card fight for the second Triller Boxing event. Jake Paul not only plans to defeat Ben Askren easily, but predicts he’ll do it quicker than UFC Welterweight Jorge Masvidal.
“I’m linking up with Masvidal tomorrow. He’s going to help me train for this fight” – Jake Paul
During Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Jake Paul predicted that his fight with Askren will end quicker than Masvidal’s knock out of the former Bellator and One champ. Masvidal knocked out Askren in 4.9 seconds on July 6th , 2019 at UFC 239. Here’s the official prediction from Paul…
“It’s not going to go that long, it’s not going to go that long. I don’t even think he’ll hit me. I haven’t been hit one time in the face in my past two fights. So I haven’t even been punched as pro boxer one time. Nate Robinson landed one body shot in a clinch. I don’t think Ben Askren will even hit me. That’s my prediction. I started boxing two years ago and I’m still going to knock his ass out faster than Masvidal. These MMA guys think because they throw punches they know how to box. The world complained because I knocked out a basketball player and not a real fighter. So now I’m giving the people what they want by taking on a ‘real fighter.’ After Ben Askren is added to my knockout meme collection, what can anybody say?”

Askren Predicts 8th Round KO In Paul Fight
Both fighters have agreed to a 8-round bout and will be using 10oz gloves. Here’s Askren’s comments on the fight…
“I don’t know why people actually think he’s good and I watched the Nate Robinson fight. I thought, ‘Holy shit, these guys are bad.’ They’re really bad. So I really don’t see why people think he’s good at boxing. He’s a YouTube star who decided he wants to do a few boxing matches. He’s not a boxer. It won’t be more that I hit him and he goes down, but over the course of the eight rounds, he realizes, ‘Holy shit, I’m in a real fight. I don’t really like this. I’m just some spoiled rich kid. I’m just gonna find an easy way out.’ It’s gonna be like a TKO, maybe round six, round seven. Something to that effect.”

Listen, I understand the world of prize fighting. Askren is brilliant for taking this fight with Paul as it’s a massive payday, but in my opinion it is the final nail in the coffin for boxing. Sure, the UFC is guilty of this too, but not on this level. Booking CM Punk for a fight was in my opinion a terrible move for the UFC, but Paul vs Askren is 1000x worse. How embarrassing.
