Kevin Holland has no plans of slowing down in 2021 after earning 5 straight wins this year. The 21-5 UFC Welterweight wants a shot at top contenders going into the new year and after an impressive 2020 he might just make his wishes come true.

Kevin Holland has had a year like no other fighter in the UFC. A pandemic didn’t stop Trail Blazer from securing 5 victories in less than a year. Holland has earned 5 victories from May 2020 – December 2020. Oh, and he did it in a 7 month span and not a full calendar year. The crazy part is that Holland wants to fight Khamzat Chimaev this Saturday but from the looks of it the UFC has passed on that option. Moving into 2021 what should be next for the UFC star? Holland has a couple names that come to mind including #7 ranked Middlweight Derek Brunson…
I know a lot of people don’t know the name, but Derek Brunson. That’s who I want to smack. Derek said something about slamming me on my head one time. I was like, ‘Oh, okay. That’s how you think we play.’ That may be how you play with other wrestlers, but I’m a striker. Know what I mean? So, if I beat Derek Brunson, I’d be number 6. Then I gotta go through 5, 4, 3, 2, champ. Then that’s 6 fights in a year. That’s a good year. Then no one can say I didn’t fight tough competition.

Trail Blazer is one of the biggest stars in the Middleweight division, but it will most likely be a while before he gets a shot at Adesanya. Obviously he has a plan to work his way up, but could you imagine if he not only takes on 6 fights in 2021 but beats the best of the best in the Middleweight division? There would be no way the UFC could deny him a shot at the title.
If Adesanya wants to play the UFC Double Champ game and fight Jan Błachowicz at 205 then the division needs to move forward. Let Holland earn an interim title shot in the meantime and really shake up the Middleweight division with a couple more wins in 2021. I mean, why have everyone else sit on their hands while Adesanya moves up? It does nothing but stall the division. Have the best of the best fight for the interim title and Izzy can come back in late 2021 and take on the interim champ. Problem solved.
