Garbrandt Thinks Aldo Is The Perfect Opponent Right Now
Former UFC Bantamweight champ Cody Garbrandt is on the path to UFC gold and wants a shot at Jose Aldo to prove he is the #1 contender at Flyweight. Garbrandt was scheduled to fight current 125lb champ Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 255. Due to complications from COVID-19 Garbrandt was forced to pull out of the bout.
Should Cody Wait On Figueiredo Or Stay Active In 2021?
After suffering complications from COVID 19, Garbrandt was forced to pull out of his title fight against Figueiredo. Although you can’t predict when you’re going to get sick, it really set Cody back at a shot at the Bantamweight belt. Now, Figueredo vs Moreno is scheduled to take place this year and Garbrandt has to make a tough decision. Sure, Cody could sit and wait for another shot at the belt. He could also OR stay active and take the Aldo fight to prove he is the #1 contender. Garbrandt is coming off of an impressive second round knockout over Raphael Assunção and needs to take another fight. Garbrandt plans to fight in April and is hoping for the Aldo fight which is honestly something all MMA fans want to see.
Moving down to 125lbs is a real big test for Cody but a win over Aldo would absolutely earn him a title shot. Regardless of what happens, I am so thankful that the 125lb division is still a thing in the UFC. This year is going to be huge for the Flyweight division.
