Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno went all five rounds on Saturday night and ended UFC 256 with what will most certainly be a Fight Of The Year contender. The UFC 256 headliner ended in a draw but did not disappoint as both fighters returned to the octagon after just 21 days.
“Figueiredo vs. Moreno Is The Best Fight In Flyweight History” – Dana White
In what will be a fight to remember for years to come, Figueiredo vs Moreno was the perfect way to end UFC’s 2020 PPV run. Both fighters put on a performance to remember and the fight ended not so surprisingly in a draw. After multiple fouls from Figueiredo, Moreno was able to keep up with the champ’s pace and show he is the #1 contender for a reason. From the start of round 1 all the way to the closing air horn both fighters gave it their all. Figueiredo admitted his mistakes in the post fight interview and said the ref was just doing his job…
“The referee did his job, you know. I threw an eye poke on accident and I threw the low kick on accident. He did his job. It’s not my place to say that, but I was able to go in there and put on a good fight. My fans are used to seeing me go out there and get a knockout in the first round, but I fought all five rounds and I think it was a good performance.”
This fight was so evenly matched and I guarantee MMA fans will be blessed with a rematch in 2021. When Dana White says its one of the best fights in Flyweight history he’s not wrong. The division has struggled to catch the eyes of casual MMA fans but last night it delivered.
