You won’t get beat up.

You won’t get smacked.

But do not wear a Detroit Lions Matthew Stafford jersey into Eastern Market establishment Thomas MaGee’s prior to the Detroit Lions wild card playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams. Detroit Rams shirts are also banned.

“You will kindly be asked to leave,” said bar owner Erik Olson. “Why would you wear that? It’s the contrarians trying to stir stuff up.”

Thomas MaGee’s is normally a weekend hot spot for soccer fans who want to watch early morning matches from England and Spain. However, MaGee’s will open at 10 in the morning to welcome Lions and Rams fans who want to watch the game at the bar or use it as a starting point before heading to Ford Field.

Olson said that Rams fans will be allowed to wear Rams Stafford jerseys.

Olson was a Stafford fans when he played for the Lions. But his quarterback is Jared Goff who hopes to lead the Lions to their first playoff win since 1992.

“So many people are fired up about this,” Olson said. “(But) there seem to be a contingent of Stafford slappies who want to bring attention to themselves. This is not the time to bring this shit up.”

This is not the time to show support for Stafford. He played here for 13 years, but wanted out of Detroit which led to a trade to the Rams for Goff and draft picks. Although he might be a great guy and he did a lot for the Detroit community when he played here, Stafford is coming to town to eliminate the Lions from the playoffs.

He wants to fly out of Detroit early Tuesday morning hoping you have a bad day.

“He is in town to do his job and that’s to dash our hopes and dreams,” Olson said.

Olson is a diehard Lions fan who said he is on pins and needles if the Lions are up 41-0 with four minutes remaining in the game. He won’t beat you up if you wear a Stafford jersey in his place. But he has no control what other patrons might do.

“I don’t want to hire extra security to watch over these clowns,” Olson said.
