Yesterday, The Detroit Lions announced resigning OT Taylor Decker to a 6 year, $85 Million extension. They aren’t done yet!

The Taylor Decker move from the Detroit Lions was kind of a surprise to me. I think Decker is a decent OT but The Lions think he is worth $85 Million!

Who is the next Lion to get paid?

So who is next in line to secure the bag from the Lions? Rumors are Kenny Golladay. Golladay has made it known that he wants to have a new deal before the season. The new season starts in just 8 days! Yes 8 days we will have NFL football. Golladay has earned his extension by proving to be an elite WR no matter who is throwing him the ball.

Coming off a career season in 2019 where Golladay had 1,190 receiving yards and 11 TDs. All while catching balls from a platoon of QB’s. With that kind of constant output, it’s very important to hold on to Kenny.

WR Core Future

Marvin Jones is coming off the books next year. Danny Amendola probably wont be in Honolulu Blue next year for the Lions. That’s all the more reason to lock in Golladay ASAP. With Quintez Cephus showing promise in camp. We might have our WR1 and WR2 set for many years to come.

I’m happy the Detroit Lions are being aggressive with locking up the future. The signings of Taylor Decker and being in talks with Kenny Golladay at least it shows me they have a plan. How good that plan will work out, is yet to be seen. But at least we are in the game!
