In a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, Former UFC Heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier admitted that he contracted COVID-19 during his preparation for UFC 252. Cormier also revealed that although the Oura Smart Ring didn’t tell him he had COVID-19, the data did tell him that something was off.
“The ring didn’t tell me I had COVID, but the ring told me that something wasn’t right. I used the information to make a decision to go see the doctor. I found out then that I had COVID.”

Cormier Says COVID 19 Diagnosis Is Not An Excuse For His Loss To Stipe
Being diagnosed with COVID-19 during a fight camp would be terrifying, but Cormier wants to make it clear that he is not using his diagnosis as an excuse.
“Miocic won the fight and he fought beautifully. This is a thank you almost to Oura for allowing me to get to the fight. I might have just kept pushing and not known I had it. But I was able to take care of myself properly and then get back into training and compete for the heavyweight championship of the world.”
