Occasionally, I’ll think of Anthony Gose.

It usually goes something like this in my brain:

He was that guy who got shipped to Toronto for Devon Travis, right?

I would’ve loved Devon Travis on this team. Good hitter – got hurt a lot, though.

Gose was supposed to be the next Austin Jackson.

He hit super bad but was kind of fast.

I literally cannot remember a single Anthony Gose highlight.

They sent him down to Toledo and he blew up at Lloyd McClendon. Over what, trying to help him?

Can’t believe after that he was in Single-A West Michigan trying to become pitcher or something.

Obviously, that couldn’t have worked out.

My thinking was wrong. Anthony Gose is back in the MLB.

In fact, he’s in the Central Division once again – and he made his pitching debut last night.

Trailing 2-1 to the bottoming Kansas City Royals in the fourth, the Cleveland Indians gave Gose the call.

Each of his first three pitches gave me a different impression of this new-look pro.

First impression: Dang, this guy is absolutely jacked now.

Second impression: ARE YOU KIDDING ME HE THROWS 100 MILES AN HOUR?

Third impression: Wow, his offspeed has nice movement – DID HE THROW 100 AGAIN?

Over 1 2/3 innings of relief, Gose had 1 earned run, 1 walk, and let up one hit.

However, the best moment of the night came against the MLB’s leader in home runs.

Gose worked Salvador Perez to a 2-2 count and dealt him a 99 MPH top-shelf fastball.

As the pitch came in, it was obvious not even El Nino wanted to swing at it – but Gose jammed him.

Strike three, take a seat.

Not too bad for a 31-year-old.
