Anthony Carrie is a massive commitment for Mel Tucker and the coaching staff to land at MSU. The 247Sports composite 4-star running back announced his commitment via social media Saturday afternoon.

Anthony Carrie Timeline

Carrie comes from Carrollwood Day High School and originates from Tampa Bay, Florida. Alabama, North Carolina, Arkansas, and Auburn all have offers as well for the stud RB. The 6-0 and 185-pound back is currently ranked the 22nd highest composite back by 247Sports in the 2024 class. The Spartans were one of the first schools to offer Carrie back on January 19, 2022. On June 24, a year ago, Carrie took an unofficial visit to East Lansing. Now, exactly a year later, after taking an OV on June 23rd, he commits on the 24th.

Scouting Report

Andrew Ivins, who is the director of scouting for 247Sports, describes Carrie as “a compact running back with solid vision and quick feet”. Carrie has over 2,618 yards and 43 touchdowns in 28 varsity games for Carrollwood Day. If Carrie can improve his long speed along with adding more mass, then the combination of his side steps and lateral cuts should be lethal.

MSU Overall 2024 Recruiting

Carrie is now the first four-star in the 2024 class for the Spartans after MSU had a couple decommit a couple of months ago. The Green and White are still only ranked 64th in the nation in recruiting with six hard commits in the class. The good news is that momentum is building in East Lansing. There will be more commitments coming soon, with the expectation of them coming at the offensive line. Spartan fans can remember that the recruiting years under Dantonio were never flashy, but they got the guys that fit their system. The goal remains the same for Michigan State, and the hope is that they can continue to build this class as the summer progresses.
