According to MMAFighting.com, Anderson Silva is no longer in the UFC. The former UFC Middleweight champ had one fight left on his contract, but according to sources the UFC and Silva opted to part ways.
Silva Hangs Up The Gloves For The Last Time
After his last bout against Uriah Hall, Silva stated in his post fight interview that he didn’t know if he was going to retire. A few days later Silva released a statement saying he was saying goodbye to the sport. Anderson will go down in history as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. He defended the Middleweight title 16 times and was undefeated from 2006 – 2013. When it comes to dominant champs in the UFC no one compares to Anderson Silva.
The Spider is now officially a free agent, but in my opinion it would be best for the legend to focus on his family. The MMA world moves fast and Silva’s recent fights prove that he isn’t the same. Father time never forgives and I would hate to see Anderson’s career continue to dwindle away.
