Halle Berry is a diehard MMA fan and has shown the UFC love on her social media and in person for years. Now, her passion for MMA can be seen on Netflix as her MMA themed movie Bruised will be moving to the streaming platform. Netflix made an eight-figure offer, which according to sources was close to $20 million to purchase the rights to the movie.
The movie stars current UFC Women’s Flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko. Berry made headlines last month after admitting she sustained broken ribs during the filming of Bruised. The Hollywood star said the injury was caused during a physical day of filming with Shevchenko. Berry spoke to Variety regarding the injury…
“I didn’t want to stop because I had prepared for so long,” Berry said about the injury when speaking to We had rehearsed; we were ready. So my mind, my director’s mind, was just keep going. I compartmentalized that, and I just kept going: ‘I’m not going to stop. I’ve come too far. I’m going to act as if this isn’t hurting. I’m going to will myself through it.’ And so we did.”
