XFL on a Thursday night? At least, you don’t need to have a subscription to watch this game. As the St. Louis Battlehawks face off against the Seattle Sea Dragons. The Battlehawks are off to a hot start after a comeback win over the San Antonio Brahmas a week before. Sitting at 1-0 they have a quick turnaround from their Sunday game. The Sea Dragons on the other hand were not so lucky in their opener as they lost to the Defenders 18-22. Despite the loss, the Sea Dragons still have three players on top the leader board in passing, receiving and tackles. Let’s check out some action and see if the Sea Dragons can pull out a win.
Ball Out
The XFL delivered a Thursday night thriller with these two teams. As the Battlehawks once again had to battle back from a 12-point deficit. No lead is safe from St. Louis, as they made it a 17-12 game late in the fourth quarter. If we’ve learned anything from week one. It’s that the most exciting moments in these games come down to the final two minutes. This one did not disappoint.

Quarterback Ben DiNucci of the Sea Dragons connected with Jordan Veasy putting them up 18-17 after a failed 3 point conversion. Less than a minute left in the game. They left the game in the hands of Battlehawk quarterback AJ McCarron for the win. Driving them down to Seattle’s 26-yard line with 3 seconds left on the clock. Donny Hageman was able to hit a walk off field goal, giving the Battlehawks a 20-18 victory.

Finals Thoughts
St. Louis now moves to 2-0 for the season despite getting off to slow starts in both of their games. McCarron controlled the game with his arms and legs. As he completed 22 of his 36 pass attempts for 184 yards and 41 rushing yards. A win had AJ emotional as he called his teammates his new family during his post game interview. He seems to be adjusting to the XFL and somewhat finding a rhythm. As for Seattle they now move to 0-2 and need to figure out somethings in the week to come before their next matchup. DiNucci had another highlight reel night but turnovers by him staled the Sea Dragons offense. Even though they kept fighting in both matchups costly mistakes could plague this team if they don’t manage to adjust soon.

In all, the XFL’s first Thursday night game was more exciting than most Thursday night football games have been in a long time. If you aren’t watching yet, I’m not sure what it’s going to take. Drama, excitement and unpredictability. Are you not entertained?
