Kenny Golladay listed as “Doubtful” for Sundays Game.
Kenny Golladay was the Detroit Lions leading WR in 2019. He caught 11 TD’s and had 1,190 yards receiving. It didn’t seem to matter who the QB was throwing him the ball last year Golladay was a gamer.
The Detroit Lions are scheduled to open their season this Sunday against the Chicago Bears. As it stands now, Kenny Golladay might not be on the field at all.
Earlier this week Golladay was sidelined form practice with a basic muscle tare. The Lions gave him the next few days off hoping he would bounce back and be ready for the Bears. It is not looking like the time off will get him on the field for this Sunday.
That will leave a massive hole for signal caller Matthew Stafford. Who had grown a great connection with Kenny last season. With Marvin Jones and Danny Amendola as the next in line, I still think the Lions can put their foot on the gas and run their full playbook. But, missing your Top WR is never a plus.
Who steps up?
Quintez Cephus now has a golden opportunity to shine. Cephus was a 5th round steal by the Detroit Lions and has shown he can fit into the NFL game right away. His training camp has been strong and his work hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Cephus dropped to the Lions due to some off the field issues. Those issues were a false allegation. Those charges were thrown out of court. This really hurt where he landed in the draft. That move could already be paying dividends on opening day for the the Lions.
